Step 1

Remove the excess debris with a soft cloth. In addition to the smudgy fingerprints, laptops and the screens are magnets to every wandering dust particle in the air. Use the cloth to remove the visible particles.

Step 2

Mix the alcohol and distilled water in equal parts in a small bowl.

Step 3

Dip the clot into the mixture and wring out any excess liquid. You want the soft cloth to be damp. A sopping wet cloth only makes the liquid drip down the screen and into areas of the laptop where it can cause damage, so be sure to wring it thoroughly.

Step 4

Gently wipe the laptop screen. Apply only enough pressure as it takes to remove the stubborn dirt and smudges. While laptop screens are durable, they won’t stand up to full fledged 100% scrubbing pressure, as you would use on a tile floor.

Step 5

Dry the laptop screen with the remaining soft cloth.

Step 6

Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all of the dirt and smudge marks.
